Movies with expired copyright to be cartooned

MANGA BANK will start a business to make cartoon of the world movie masterpieces of which copyright protection period has been expired to be public domain software. “Casablanca”, "Charade”, "Stagecoach”, and “Wuthering Heights” are in the first lineup of the products. Each of them is the title well known as one-time movie masterpiece.
MANGA BANK will make a comic basing on the movie script, and then sell them, from November 17, in a set with the original movie DVD at 1,380 yen (excluding tax). Kenshi Hirokane, famous for popular comics such as “Division Chief Kosaku Shima”, will be a general supervisor of the project, and cartoonists make cartoon in accordance with the contents of each movie under Hirokane’s supervision.
MANGA BANK is a venture business which is invested by contents related enterprises such as Optrom, Inc., OGGI, CONTENTS BANK Corp., and Glovic co, inc. The above mentioned special products might be initiated by the intention to differentiate them from other bargain masterpiece DVDs within the highly competitive market of public domain software.
There are plenty of bargain DVDs of public domain software, but too many rivals without copyright protection made the competition very severe. MANGA BANK’s project would aim to differentiate their products by adding the value of cartoon on those DVD.
