CRAYON SHINCHAN to be a live action feature directed by Takashi Yamazaki

Tadashi Sudo [Anime! Anime!]

October 9, 2008

Animated feature film CRAYON SHINCHAN Arashi o Yobu Appare! Sengoku Daigassen, which made not only kids but adults cry in theatres, will come back in a live action feature. ALWAYS SANCHOME NO YUHI’s director Takashi Yamazaki will produce a large scale love romance BALLAD ? Namonaki Koi no Uta based on a story of the animated feature. Along with the concept of the original story, which is about a 10 year old boy who time-slips to the past, his family, and the love between some worrier and princess, Director Yamazaki will construct a new world.

The main actor is SAMP’s Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and the main actress, Yui Aragaki. Also, Shirogumi, a Japanese animation production studio that has remarkably revived the good, old scenery of Tokyo city in ALWAYS SANCHO ME NO YUHI, and the company will revive the war era in the past Japanese with the latest technology of VFX.

The next challenge of Takashi Yamazaki, whose ALWAYS SANCHO ME NO YUHI, and ZOKU SANCHOME NO YUHI became super popular, and Shirogumi will need much attention.
The original story for the live action film, CRAYON SHINCHAN Arashi o Yobu Appare! Sengoku Daigassen, is the 10th animated feature of CRAYON SHINCHAN series released in 2002.

The film has been honored a high evaluation beyond the wall between the kids animation or series animation, and it pulled up the director, Keiichi Hara’s reputation over a night. Actually, the film has been awarded lots of awards: Japan Media Arts Festival Animation Category’s Best Prize, the 57th Mainichi Film Awards: Animation Grand Award, 2003 Tokyo Anime Award Feature Film Category Best Prize and others. It is really interesting how Director Yamazaki, who made many people cry with live action films, will create Arashi o Yobu Appare!, which adults get moved and cried by, into a live action feature film.
