At Moscow International Film Festival held in Russia from June 19 till June 28, Studio 4°C’s new movie FIRST SQUAD won The Kommersant newspaper's prize. Moscow International Film Festival is an biannual event and is the most renowned film festival in Russia.
FIRST SQUAD was entered in the Perspective Competition which consisted of debut titles of film directors from around the world. FIRST SQUAD was the only animated film among 14 titles that were entered in the competition.
It was co-produced by Japan, Russia and Canada. The story is about a girl who has the remote viewing skill and belongs to First Squad. During the WWII, there is an intelligence force in Russia called the 6th Division that studies and tests ESP such as telepathy and First Squad is the 6th Division’s squad that raises young soldiers who carry out intelligence activities using their ESP skills.
The film length is 73 minutes. There is an official homepage where provides information about the movie in Japanese, English and Russian. However, the release date is still unknown.
