Tadashi Sudo [Anime! Anime!]
August 17, 2009
MANGAROO, a manga hosting site that users can upload their original manga works and share them with others, opened on August 14. The website is developed and managed by Mobakids, a website developer.
Recently, CGM has gained a lot of attention and a lot of hosting websites for videos, illustration, and photographs have been launched. MANGAROO takes advantage of the same system as well.
Registered users upload their own manga works on the site and share them with the public.
The unique point of MANGAROO is that the site started in the multi languages; Japanese and English from the beginning. According to Mobakids, the company sees the international market in the future so that the site is available in two languages.
It is attractive for users that their manga works get published online by just registering to the site and uploading them without hosting own homepages or blogs. Also, the more viewers would be expected to come to see the works on MANGAROO than on own homepages.
According to Mobakids, digital comics will be available for sale on MANGAROO within this year. The content will be available on mobile phones, iPhones, Andreoid, Wii, PS3, DSi, and PSP, as well. Moreover, the company will provide a support service to publishers or companies that are considering to host own manga content online for hosting their content on MANGAROO and selling them through the MANGAROO content sales system.
