On behalf of Anime International Company Inc. (AIC), an anime producer, its group company, Anime International Co. Asia PTE Ltd ., concluded a basic agreement with Cubix International PTE Ltd. in Singapore on adaptation of BUBBLEGUM CRISIS into a live action film. The SF anime series highly popular in the late 80’s and the early 90’s will be recreated in a live action film after approximately 20 years of absence.
Cubix has agreed with AIC to produce the live action version of BUBBLEGUM CRISIS with a budget of several billion yen and with the aim of showing it in the U.S.A. among other countries around 2011. For the production of the film, Cubix is considering cooperation with the creators of the original series including Mr. Shinji Aramaki and Mr. Kenichi Sonoda in order to incorporate the perception of the universe and the quality of work of the original series in the film.
BUBBLEGUM CRISIS is an anime series sold from 1987 to 1991 in various forms including the eight-episode OVAs. Later the anime series was produced in other forms including a TV anime series and a film for theaters to explore a wider range of media. A. D. POLICE was also produced as its spin-off.
Cubix, which is to recreate the film, is an animation studio based in Singapore. Its strength is in the global business with such an achievement as the sales of a 3D-animation full-length film, ZODIAC - THE RACE BEGINS, in more than 20 countries in the world.
The aim of this basic agreement between the two companies is to explore the global market with collaboration of the leading companies in Asia in production of an anime work. This collaboration will be watched closely as a strategy for future business expansion in the global business.
